PREVENTION OF TOOTH DECAY
During normal tooth development, deep grooves form in the back teeth creating multiple pits. These pits fill up with food and bacteria. Because toothbrushes bristles are too thick to reach into the pits, complete removal of food and bacteria is hindered. Bacteria acts on food to form strong acids that weaken and destroy the enamel, hence a cavity is formed.
To seal these deep pits to prevent food trap, a resin material is placed as a coating to ensure a smooth surface on the surface of the teeth. The procedure does not require anasthesia and is tolerable at any age.
